Removed link in protest of Reuters and Attributor's extortion-like business practices. For the record, I will never go to Reuters or any other news organization dealing with Stephens Media/Attributor.

Well, that's pretty scary, and worse is the fact that they like it! Are people, and now children, so hurried and inconvenienced that anything fast and easy is fine with them? What is wrong with the parents of these children, do they not see where this is leading? I am appalled by this.

I've got to read Ludwig Von Mises Human Action. It is an economic treatise that in one of things it covers, it shows how economics is tied to desire. And artificial, thus, central planning of the economy not only messes with money but with people's desires. In Time Preference Theory, explained in that book, it shows how low interest rates correlate with instant gratification urges whereas high interest rates correlate with capital savings, being patient, and learning wisdom to store for any known or unknown needs. When banks mess with interest rates they are directly influencing people's desires. And those desires will not only be expressed in the market as in using credit cards even though some people don't have capital savings, but these urges will be expressed in other facets of society as well - such as what you say here:

And no, sadly some people don't see where this is leading. What's troublesome is the inclination towards self-gratification needs in any given society puts pressure to shift the perspective of any one individual from having any foresight. Saving and looking towards the future is an exercise in foresight abilities whereas curbing attempts from such future outlooks, ie. such attempts as debt actions, is all about now and forget about any future consequences. As Keynesian said, "In the long run, we're all dead." What he was referring to was why save when we're all dead in the long run so, spend, spend, spend now. As Nixon said in 1971, "We're all Keynesians now".

and i thought the internet was serious business. i guess mass is WAY serious. i guess heaven and hell serious

maybe some people can make payments to the church to avoid going to mass all the time. a new kind of indulgences.
