Military and Video Games
http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0919/p01s04-usmi.html
I play video games from time to time. I'm completely anti-initiation of war and haven't known a self-defensive war (opposite of initiation of a war), except maybe lots of them on the other side of the line when it comes to the Imperial Force Marching in. Also, it is self-evident that not all people that play video games suddenly find the urge to kill somebody and then they go and act on such urges. It's not happening.
What is happening is the military exploits desperation whether it be in a poor job economy or what have you. I mean it's advertising and knowing that with some 130 some odd countries in which the U.S. military is stationed then more recruits got to come from somewhere cause the Empire doesn't want to go away tonight. The military is directly involved in making video games, and there are recruits that would have NEVER joined the military unless they played video games to introduce them to the glorification of what the military entails. I say "NEVER" cause that's what the recruits themselves say. Their words, not mine:
"...the Pentagon released the latest version of 'America's Army,' the combat-style video game.
'I never really thought about the military at all before I started playing this game,' says Pfc. Doug Stanbro in a phone interview from Fort Jackson, S.C.
With more than 3,000 US soldier deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan since 9/11, the use of a video game and incentives such as free iPods to recruit replacements is a strategy that critics call misguided, even abhorrent. But for the Pentagon, 'America's Army' is proving a potent way to communicate military values directly to the messy bedrooms where teens hang out.
'America's Army' is 'a sort of virtual test drive,' says its creator, Col. Casey Wardynski. What we are looking to communicate is the ethos of being a soldier ... leadership, teamwork, values, structure.'
In a recent informal survey of recruits at Fort Benning, Ga., which was conducted by the Army's video-game development team, about 60 percent of recruits said they've played 'America's Army' more than five times a week. Four out of 100 said they'd joined the Army specifically because of the game. Nationwide, the game counts some 7.5 million registered users, making it one of the Top 5 online PC games."
U.S. military is not only making video games now, and not only are recruits saying the video game is what had them join the army; BUT the military is taking survey's of their planned efforts to recruit people with video games, plus, the military is determined as I quoted above and requote here: "But for the Pentagon, "America's Army" is proving a potent way to communicate military values directly to the messy bedrooms where teens hang out."
Military values into the bedrooms of teens.... Also this quote cause that Empire needs bodies:
"Nearly 40 percent of recruits now score in the bottom half of the Army's own aptitude test, according to David Chu, undersecretary of Defense for personnel and readiness. More high school dropouts are now recruited than five years ago. There are fewer "washouts," meaning the Army is holding on to more borderline soldiers, critics say."
The military, plus recruits, say the video games prepare the youth for the military. It makes the transition smoother.
Drone simulation of the people that push the buttons on these things. Supposedly performed out of Nevada, at least that's what poster of this youtube mentions. Drones are a weapon of the future.

Re: Military and Video Games
Just another reminder of the times we live in. Great post Wilderness.
It's not only video games, it's movies, Television, Music, basically everything.
Almost like they are engineering a generation of soldiers who listen to satanic music, watch gory movies, and play bloody video games. Entrench the people in hatred and zero moral compass, and you probably get a generation of killers.
Good luck avoiding the mental and spiritual attacks. It's been a tough ride for me, and daily I falter. But each day I falter less, and less.
Cheers
