7.0 quake hits impoverished Haiti
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) -- A strong earthquake hit the impoverished country of Haiti on Tuesday, where a hospital collapsed and people were screaming for help. Other buildings also were damaged.
There were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries, but an analyst at the U.S. Geological Survey said there could be substantial damage and casualties. Powerful aftershocks were felt in the first hour.
The earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 7.0 and was centered about 10 miles (15 kilometers) west from the Caribbean nation's capital of Port-au-Prince, the USGS said. It had a depth of 5 miles (8 kilometers).

Re: Major Earthquake Haiti MAG 7.0
This goes along with my hunch on comparisons with Somalia and Haiti.* I'm posting this here as Camerlengo has been tracking the events in Haiti closely.

Title of article: "Who's running Haiti? No one, say the people"
"Look at us. Who is helping us? Right now, nobody," said Jean Malesta...
The sad truth is that no one is in charge of Haiti today. This vacuum, coupled with the robust response from the Obama administration, has inevitably created a situation where the U.S. will be the de facto decision-maker in Haiti."
--
Nation-state governments don't like a vacuum of non-nation-state. There are others like Jean that will wake up to their own voluntary actions. There will be reports coming out of bandits or warlords or some kind of criminal groups ravaging Haiti. This will be blasted in the news. I will not be surprised one bit. For as the people pull together and help each other out upon their own free-will, the corrupt elites no longer have a monopoly hold upon their self-advocating specialness. Their self-proclaimed diety status will be seen for what it is - a big nothing. They will be seen as the liars and false providers that they are.
Hurry up U.S. and U.N.! Get there before the people actually do more on their own.

U.S. military mobilizes thousands for Haiti relief
WELL, here they come:
Source: Reuters
Jan 14 (Reuters) - The U.S. military is mobilizing thousands of soldiers, sailors and Marines along with members of the Air Force and Coast Guard for relief efforts in Haiti. Here are the main military components announced so far:
WHO'S THERE ALREADY?
* The vast majority of the forces announced for Haiti have not yet arrived, but the military has flown in hundreds of rescuers and has advance teams and assessment teams on the ground. Air Force special forces were among the first military relief workers to arrive. The Coast Guard has deployed four ships as well as air support for evacuation efforts. The Navy destroyer USS Higgins, with about 320 sailors on board, arrived on Thursday.
MORE THAN 5,000 MARINES, SOLDIERS
* Up to 3,500 soldiers from the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg will be deployed in Haiti by Sunday. An advance group of about 125 troops were due to arrive on Thursday and 800 more will arrive on Friday.
* Another 2,200 Marines from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit at Camp Lejeune, N.C., may arrive this weekend or on Monday for what initially is expected to be about a 90-day deployment.

RESOURCES in HAITI
Not Breaking News, but as OUTCOME being the main thing I look for, see this:
Is there is a multinational conspiracy to illegally take the mineral resources of the Haitian people?
1. Stealing Haiti's Gold, Copper and Uranium under cover of regime change - The Exploitation of Gold and Copper in Trou Du Nord
http://www.margueritelaurent.com/pressclips/expose1.html#gold
-Gold and Copper Exploitation Resumes in the North and Northeast Departments of Haiti
http://www.margueritelaurent.com/pressclips/expose1.html#gold2
- Eurasian Minerals Acquires Two Gold Projects in Haiti
http://www.margueritelaurent.com/pressclips/eurasian.html
- Haiti 's Future Glitters with Gold

2. Plundering Haiti's Under Water Treasures

The Destabilization of Haiti
For purposes of keeping topic in one convenient spot, see this interesting take by Michel Chossudovsky:
This article was written in the last days of February 2004 in response to the barrage of disinformation in the mainstream media. It was completed on February 29th, the day of President Jean Bertrand Aristide's kidnapping and deportation by US Forces.
The Militarization of the Caribbean Basin
Washington seeks to reinstate Haiti as a full-fledged US colony, with all the appearances of a functioning democracy. The objective is to impose a puppet regime in Port-au-Prince and establish a permanent US military presence in Haiti.
The US Administration ultimately seeks to militarize the Caribbean basin.
The island of Hispaniola is a gateway to the Caribbean basin, strategically located between Cuba to the North West and Venezuela to the South. The militarization of the island, with the establishment of US military bases, is not only intended to put political pressure on Cuba and Venezuela, it is also geared towards the protection of the multibillion dollar narcotics transshipment trade through Haiti, from production sites in Colombia, Peru and Bolivia.
The militarisation of the Caribbean basin is, in some regards, similar to that imposed by Washington on the Andean Region of South America under "Plan Colombia', renamed "The Andean Initiative". The latter constitutes the basis for the militarisation of oil and gas wells, as well as pipeline routes and transportation corridors. It also protects the narcotics trade.
It appears that Michel was a prophet here, AND, it appears that the EQ has facilitated/sped up the desired outcome, n'est ce pas?...Click for article

The Militarization of Emergency Aid to Haiti: Is it a Humanitarian Operation or an Invasion?
Latest from Chossudovsky

While presidents Obama and Préval spoke on the phone, there was no discussions between the two governments, regarding the entry and deployment of US troops on Haitian soil. The decision was taken and imposed unilaterally by Washington. The total lack of a functioning government in Haiti was used to legitimize, on humanitarian grounds, the sending in of a powerful military force, which has de facto taken over several governmental functions.

Re: Major Earthquake Haiti MAG 7.0
yeap. this was their excuse to stay, like they stayed in Germany and Japan for over 50 years. McCain wasn't lying about the U.S. staying in Iraq for 100 years or more. the humanitarian cover of the left is a great tool for the corrupt elites, ie. socialized medicine is good for you. like taking poison candy from a stranger. this is the easy, consensus way to conquer. as Pat Robertson stated, Haiti made a pact with the devil. What stands in the way of a conquering power is always made into demons within their pantheon. anybody that struggles against the imperial forces coming ashore will be demonized. and a scapegoat is simply an animal sacrificed at the altar further ingraining their perverted sanctification. i know this seems to be jumping ahead, but i do not doubt there will be faces applied to these archetypal responses. The three cities of the empire will be leaving their stamped trails of approval. As this thread shows, gold and copper (economic), military and aid (political), and Robertson the corrupt fire and brimestone player along side the Pope who will undoubtedly cry out as if he feels their pain in order to persuade the flock further into his fold (spiritual). And then they will have their enemies because, of course, some unnumbered people in the world do not accept this imperial force, and these free-thinking men and women will be found in Haiti too, like many other regions of this earth.

Re: Major Earthquake Haiti MAG 7.0
Nice work Camerlengo..and Wilderness
It seems we have watched this scenario time and time again, yet perhaps never before Katrina has Mother Nature been so accommodating to the nation builders as it has in Haiti. It's perfect! Expect to see the good people of Haiti brought to Canada and the United States for humanitarian purposes and future "cheap labor".
World Vision and Save the Children have been in Haiti for over thirty years.

OVER 30 Years!! And these people still lived in squalor and fed their children "mud pies". Disgusting! And now the long arm of the "charities" are reaching out again to millions of peasants all over the world to lay some more cold cash in their palms.
Corrupt government leaders... (allegedly) embezzeled money to the tune of $300-800 million dollars by Jean Claude Duvalier, who by the way in 2006 was hoping to return to Haiti.
And just where did that money go the last time a Bush/Clinton team ventured in "charity work" themselves?
I say many prayers for the people of Haiti and all those around the world whose countries have been invaded by "humanitarians" dressed in sheep's clothing, because just like India and Ruwanda...somehow there is always a church, always a charity, and the never-ending pictures still streaming across the televisions of babies with flies in their mouths, dying slow deaths of starvation and the mothers whose haunted face reveals she died long ago.....

Re: Major Earthquake Haiti MAG 7.0
Did I mention Haiti is a source of cheap labor ?? No wonder the globalists are very interested in that area. As people losing jobs in this country and outsourcing continues.....Which leads to this question. Troops are there for the safety of Haitians or just safekeeping the physical assets and vital interests of the multi-national corporations ???
