Anti-Gang Police Officer's Car Booby Trapped With Deadly Device

Hemet - An anti-gang officer in Hemet discovered today that a device had been attached to his car with potentially deadly consequences -- in what appears to be the third attempt in two months to injure or kill members of an anti-gang unit in southwest Riverside County.

"We're not releasing what type of device it was," he told City News Service. "All we can say is it would have killed or injured the officer if it had done what it was supposed to do."

According to the lieutenant, the explosive device had been affixed to the officer's vehicle prior to his arriving at the mini mart.

The sheriff's bomb unit disabled the instrument, and the area was reopened to traffic around 1 p.m., Wisehart said.

No suspects have been identified.

On Dec. 31, authorities discovered that a natural gas line on the roof of the task force's headquarters building had been redirected into the facility, filling it with gas, which could have caused an explosion.

On Feb. 23, an anti-gang officer was opening a gate at the task force's office in the 500 block of Saint John Place when he was nearly struck by a bullet that was part of a booby trap triggered when the gate moved.

The task force is now operating from an undisclosed location.

"Some things end up on the back-burner when you've got this kind of intense investigation," Wisehart said.

Authorities suspect area gangs are behind the attacks.

911 caller says attack will be in retaliation for crackdown on biker gang

HEMET, Calif. - A Southern California police department plagued by booby trap attacks against its officers went on heightened alert Friday following yet another threat.

An unidentified person called a 911 operator at about 5:45 p.m. and said a police car would be blown up in the Hemet-San Jacinto area in the next 24 to 48 hours, Hemet Police Chief Richard Dana said.

The caller said the attack would be in retaliation for the law enforcement sweep against the Vagos Motorcycle Club earlier this week.

Incidents follow threats, attack on anti-gang task force

HEMET, Calif. - Four city trucks were torched in a Southern California town plagued by booby trap attacks on police officers, and authorities said Wednesday the fires might be linked to the previous attempts.

The city code enforcement trucks were discovered burning at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at a Hemet City Hall parking lot about two blocks from the police department, authorities said. The trucks were empty and no one was hurt.

Although the trucks are not issued to police, investigators believe the arson is connected to threats and booby-trap attacks aimed at an anti-gang task force in Hemet, a desert city about 85 miles east of Los Angeles.

A $200,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the attacks.

I wonder who the Hell's Angels are...do they work with the government or alone. There are many stories on the internet that say they were military types working with the CIA running drugs and doing operations for them. I imagine only a select part of the organization would be involved if they are, like many things in the world. But, if it is true, than I can certainly see this being used as a propaganda tool to incite anger from the police.

I didn't think it possible in the beginning. But the more this unravels the more I have to agree with you.

Oh yeah, for sure freeranger....we can't speak the truth, because if we do, we are racists. As for Farrakhan, he is most likely part of the abc groups and his bodyguards appear to be thugs. I used to work at a school, where one day one of the parents had asked that racist man to come to the school to speak. His thugs blockaded the entrance doors to the school and the gym and were smoking inside the hallway, outside our office doors. I told them they had to step outside and do that, and they told me to go back into my office and stay there. Imagine! They actually acted as if they were protecting the President or something. They stood at the bottom of the staircase to the upper floor, which by the way, was still up another flight of stairs to where Farrakhan was speaking in the library. Needless to say, they were told to go outside or the police would be called. They moved outside. They are only bully's if you allow them to be so.

People in Illinois for the most part, have both Farrakhan's and Jesse's number. They are not well liked or adored here. The know they only serve themselves and have sold out their own years ago.

Booby trap probe leads to Calif. raids, arrests

LOS ANGELES — The Southern California homes of dozens of white supremacists were raided Tuesday as part of a probe into a string of potentially deadly booby trap attacks targeting police officers, authorities said.

None of the arrests were directly related to the booby trap attacks that have plagued the small Hemet Police Department since New Year's Eve.

District Attorney Rod Pacheco said everyone arrested was connected to white supremacist groups.
