Estonia gets final approval to join eurozone in January

Estonia will become the 17th member of the single currency eurozone on January 1 according to a final agreement here Tuesday by European finance ministers.

The euro will be worth 15.6466 Estonian kroons at the time of the transition.

Estonia will be the first Baltic state to adopt the euro. The country joined the broader European Union in 2004 after breaking away from the Soviet Union in 1991.
