inflation will come first because there is to much money floating around ready to be spent..inflation is driven by prices..if everyone is buying the prices go up hence inflation..if oil goes up..inflationary..deflation will occur if the bourses drop..which is of course a possibilty..but i believe something goes up before it falls Smile

dear seeker,
i respect your reply and fair remarks with some ifs.
let's have a look at M1 http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/h6/current/h6.htm
At 6'2010 = 1722.7 bln usd. what's out of 1722.7 bln usd is cash? I'm not quite sure whether this number includes cash outside US.
yes, i agree printing money rate is increasing but it is too slow.
Do not see any use of M2.
What's more interesting M3, but the data are no more available from fed from 03'2006. I know only one source for M3 - SGS, maybe there's some others, I do not know them. Let have a look - there's only M3 volatility available which is more than enough and M1+M2+...+(should include stimulus)=M3 = -6%.
Here's my point - I do not know for 100% it is right or wrong.

stock markets are now just carry trade & sentiment of a crowd it has nothing to do with real economy any more.
imho, guys should increase M3 for inflation or print like hell. all the rest is sentiment, critical days or market protection from "evil foreigners".
PS: seeker, give me more...

Real estate and stock market deflation, that is if the fed does not crank up its printing press..most definitely food and precious metals hyperinflation..

dear iadadds,
you state as if you treat real estate and stocks are assets. they are assets...., but only for virtual reality and modern accounting standards. most funny thing happens to such asset as a credit... bounce
food hyperinflate to what mean of payment? and what you do with fresh fish, when you should get rid of it asap?
precious metals....Suspect you can easily buy gold even from slot-machines in germany.

there're many local feds, micro- and nano-feds in the world.... Smile i'm not questioning the importance of the fed...sunny

PS: confirmation on china real estate, etc and fist on geeks face... Basketball
