Ash cloud and Nato Exercises

Today I read about this huge new USS George H.W. Bush and that it's now joining it's group in Naples to bomb Libya. Boots on the ground expected and stuff like that.

But here it comes, guys:

Before that, the USS George H.W. Bush attended a big NATO Exercise in Cornwall (Southwest England) from 19. - 26. Mai 2011. It was called 'Exercise Saxon Warrior'.

think think think... never heard of this exercise, but why do I remember this date? YES! European Airtraffic was down because of the volcano ash cloud!!!!

Around 20. April 2010 European Airtraffic down for several days - Nato Exercise 'Brilliant Ardent' off coast Germany at the same time (I reported here at ftm-blog!!)
Around 20. May 2011 European Airtraffic down for a few days - Nato Exercise 'Saxon Warrior' off coast England at the same time

the name is enough to scare me..so..they use the cover of the ash to keep planes grounded..or do they cause the volcano as well!
