Survivors Curse?

Survivor is an American version of the Survivor reality television game show, itself derived from the Swedish television series Expedition Robinson originally created in 1997 by Charlie Parsons, and first broadcast in May 2000. Mark Burnett produces the American series. Its host is the former game show emcee and news reporter, Jeff Probst.

There was a lawsuit filed and several controversies involved with this show, including when in the fifth episode of the All-Star season, a naked Richard Hatch may or may not have come into contact with Sue Hawk after she blocked his path during an immunity challenge. Hatch was voted out that day for other reasons; Hawk quit the game a few days later. He was later charged with tax evasion for not claiming his winnings to the IRS.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Former "Survivor" contestant Jennifer Lyon has died at age 37.

Lyon was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, the same year she finished fourth on the CBS reality show.

A network representative confirmed her death Wednesday.

Former AFL player and winner of the first series of Australian Survivor Rob Dickson has died in a car accident in South Africa.

Dickson's five-year-old son Byron was also killed in the crash between Sun City and Pretoria.

His wife Dusty and other son Gabriel were injured and are currently being treated in hospital.


The family had been holidaying in South Africa when the accident happened.

A Bulgarian competing in the reality TV show "Survivor Bulgaria" died of a heart attack during filming at a beach resort in the central Philippines, local television reported on Sunday.

Moncho Vodnicharov, 53, died on the way to hospital after he collapsed at Gotta Beach resort while filming the show Survivor on Saturday, ABS-CBN television said, quoting local police chief Ayn Natuel.

"After performing an activity as part of the contest, he suffered cardiac arrest that resulted in his instant death," said Natuel.

American Cheryl Kosewicz, a 35-year-old deputy district attorney was found dead in her Nevada home from an apparent suicide last week after being the fourth eliminated contestant on the CBS series Pirate Master.

The show, hosted by Australian actor Cameron Daddo, was axed by CBS in the US last week and while it has proved a fizzer for Channel Ten the network is still airing the treasure finding reality show in the graveyard slot of Sunday afternoons.

Kosewicz's death occurred less than two months after her boyfriend, 26-year-old heavy machinery operator Ryan O'Neil also took his own life.




It was the second suicide involving a production by Mark Burnett, the creator of Survivor, following the 2005 death of American boxer Najai 'Nitro' Turpin who fatally shot himself after an episode in which he starred in the boxing reality show The Contender aired.

wonder what probst's history is like

Yeah, it is wild isn't it...and kinda neat for me, cause I came up with this all by myself after reading about the death of Jennifer Lyon. I started thinking, wow..wasn't there a couple others who died after being on that show. I have to admit, I certainly never thought I would come up with 5 deaths....Its just too weird, like the people who were in that movie Poltergeist.

Bruce Beresford-Redman, a producer of the hit reality show Survivor, reported his wife Monica missing, while on vacation in Cancun, Mexico. A missing persons report stated that she left on a shopping trip in the resort town of Cancun, on Monday, and failed to return to the Moon Palace resort, where the couple was vacationing.

Beresford-Redman was arrested and questioned about the death on Thursday, after authorities found her body in a sewer on the grounds of the resort. A hotel patron told police that the couple had been in a heated argument the day that she was reported missing, and Bruce Beresford-Redman's body allegedly showed signs of scratches.
